Citizens of most countries require valid visa to enter Bangladesh. The Embassy determines the type and category of visa and duration of stay upon receiving an application. The types and categories differ according to the purpose of visit, length of stay and bilateral arrangement with the country of the foreign national.

All persons need national passports valid for at least 6(six) months to visit Bangladesh. Holders of Certificate/Laissez-passer issued by the United Nations and its Specialized Agencies are acceptable travel documents for endorsement of Bangladesh visa; also acceptable are Continuous Discharge Certificate/Nullies/Seaman Book (when traveling on duty).

Regular students / students seeking admission / researchers in any government-approved educational institution would be eligible for student visa. The following documents will be required for student visa:

✔ Proof of letter from the Bangladesh Government-approved educational institution where the applicant has got admitted or going to be admitted;

✔ Sponsorship letter from the concern educational institute of Bangladesh;

✔ Bank statement (last three months);

✔ Student ID with a photocopy;

✔ Two copies of 45mm X 35mm photographs;

✔ Duly filled-in visa application form.

Experts / advisers / employees / Individuals appointed in government /semi-government/ autonomous bodies / projects and equivalent organizations, individuals employed in local/ foreign government / semi-government/ liaison / industrial / commercial organizations or other equivalent organizations, and individuals appointed under local / foreign government / semi-government contractor-ship and in equivalent organizations would be eligible for employment visa. The following documents will be required for employment visa:.

✔ Approval letter/Letter of recommendation from the relevant Ministry or Board of Investment (BIDA) or Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA);

The following documents will be required for diplomatic/official visa:

✔ Note Verbal or official letter from the concerned Government/ Embassy/ Office/ Organization;

✔ Two copies of 45mm X 35mm photographs;

✔ Note Verbal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required for the Exemption of the Visa fees for the official visits

✔ Visa will be given only on the Official Passport

Investors in existing / new/ under construction/ upcoming industrial /commercial entity in the private sector under joint venture or 100% foreign owned company are eligible for investor visa. The following documents will be required for investor visa:

✔ Letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Industries, Dhaka or the Board of Investment (BOI) or Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Dhaka;

✔ Two copies of 45mm X 35mm photographs;

✔ Duly filled-in visa application form.

Individuals appointed in an NGO registered in Bangladesh would be eligible for NGO visa for employment/service. The following documents will be required for NGO visa:

✔ A certified letter from the concerned NGO in Bangladesh which should be duly attested by the NGO Affairs Bureau, Dhaka;

✔ An appointment letter with full terms and conditions from the NGO where the applicant is going to join;

✔ A letter from the present employer where the applicant belongs to;

✔ Two copies of 45mm X 35mm photographs;

✔ Duly filled-in visa application form.

✔ Recommendation letter from the organization

Journalists of newspapers / magazines /TV or radio networks / news agencies /representatives of print, electronic or satellite media / freelance journalists would be eligible for journalist visa for the purpose of professional duty in Bangladesh. The following documents will be required for journalist visa:

✔ A support letter from his/her organization describing the purpose of his/her visit;

✔ Duly filled in FF-I and FF-II forms;

✔ Two copies of 45mm X 35mm photographs

✔ Duly filled-in visa application form.

✔ Passport copies (the main picture page and valid Thai visa page)

✔ One set of a copy of Thai work permit.

✔ A copy of press identity card

✔ A recommendation letter from organization/ News angency in Thailand, providing necessary information such as the correspondent details, what subject will be recovered in Bangladesh and the equipment/kits for example: camera to carry for journalist purpose.

✔ For Shooting in Bangladesh to produce TV / Video Film / Documentary by Foreign Network / Organization / Media House need this application form duly filled.

✤ Consular officer may ask for additional documents, if required.

✤ Foreign citizens/nationals of India and Pakistan traveling to Bangladesh by air with a valid visa for 90 days or more are required to REGISTER at the airport. In case of entry through land port, such registration should be completed at the nearest District Special Branch (DSB) / City Special Branch (CSB).

✤ Application for extension of visa should be submitted before expiration of the existing visa. Penalty for over-stay will be imposed if application for extension of visa is submitted after the date of expiry of the visa.

✤ Visa category cannot be changed after entering into Bangladesh.
